The project has regarded the of the rehabilitation and upgrading of about 10 km of SS284 Occidentale Etnea Road until the municipality of Bronte (CT).

The project has included  the following:

• two viaducts with steel-concrete structure, 100 m max length span
• three artificial tunnels
• four junctions.

The design included also the topographic and the geological survey, the hydrological / hydraulic studies and the Environmental Impact Assessment in an important naturalistic area along the slopes of .Etna Volcano.

Within the scope of the Environmental  Impact  Assessment specific studies have been carried out by Sering in order to define the measures for the best environmental and landscaping of the works. Among these items the following have been planned:

• system for collecting and disposing of meteoric waters of platform and slope
• green works for containment of noise pollution and landscaping
• safeguarding watercourses
• shielding part of the infrastructures with rows of shrubs and trees
• recovery site areas
