Latomies of Syracuse (ancient stone quarries) are one of the most interesting archaeological and monumental sites of Sicily. These areas, today almost completely open, are characterized by the presence of suggestive  limestone walls and caves.

Consolidation works consisted mainly in the installation of active and passive anchors.  In order to protect against surface erosion, there have been tested impregnating techniques for surfaces exposed with mixtures of different nature

Technicians of Sering developed the following services

• An extensive campaign of surveys and measurements to identify the nature and causes of instability
• The critical elaboration of the experimental data with on-site investigations and laboratory tests, to examine the geo-mechanical properties of foundation rocks;
• The reconstruction of rock-structure interaction
• The geotechnical design of the necessary consolidation works
• The technical assistance to the Contractor during consolidation works
