The Saudi Landbridge Project has been designed to expand and transform the existing rail network into a world-class freight and passenger line linking the East and West coasts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The railway line will provide the capability to move large quantities of cargo over long distances at competitive rates and offer safe and comfortable overland passenger transport.
Section 2 of the Saudi Landbridge Project, 1030 km in length, is constituted by a railway line between km 271 and Jubail City.
Engineering services carried out by Sering included the analysis of the geological and hydrogeological constraints along the alignment, the reconstruction of 2D abd 3D subsoil geotechnical models and the geotechnical characterization of soil and rocks along the alignment.
The Geotechnical Plan-Profile has been developed by importing the main profile of the alignment of the geotechnical 3D model solid reconstruction, and “cutting” it along the imported alignment. The geotechnical characterization has been settled on the basis of the data obtained from field geotechnical investigations (boreholes, geological surveys pits, etc.) and laboratory testing, carried out along the alignment.
