The intervention area includes the rocky cliffs overlooking the entire Boccadifalco District South of Palermo and therefore directly on the streets and houses of the city. The morphology of the detected areas is varied, ranging from purely rocky ridges, very steep and sub-vertical to steep slopes with a surface coverage of ground vegetation and tree vegetation, dense in some places.
Sering has carried out the following tasks:
- Review of historical data on slope stability and adjoining areas
- Geological and geotechnical surveys / detailed topographic survey map
- Reconstruction of geological maps
- Survey and site analysis
- Structural survey along the entire area of the slopes
- Planning of site investigations
- Collection of representative samples of various soil and rock formations
- Carrying out laboratory direct shear tests on rock samples
- Preparation of detailed design showing details of rock erosion protection and stabilization methodology proposal and construction cost estimates
- Evaluation and review of tenders, recommendation for awarding works contract
- Supervision of works (on going)
