The tuffaceous face overlooking Via F.S. Correra in Naples City experienced a serious instability in February 1982 that caused the collapse of a rock portion in the courtyard, the collapse of an underlying building and the breakdown of a part of the building opposite to the tuffaceous face. The wall is affected by numerous large cavities that sometimes intersect and whose origin, in addition to the excavation activity, can be attributed to the activity of storing foodstuffs or water tanks.
Sering carried the geotechnical design of consolidation works. The assignment comprised also topographic, geophysical, geotechnical and structural surveys and laboratory tests..
Services provided by Sering
- Planning of site investigations (topographic, geognostic, geophysical, structural) and laboratory tests
- Carrying out geophysical, structural and topographic survey
- Carrying out laboratory tests on rock samples
- Critical elaboration of the experimental data from on-site investigations and laboratory tests, to examine the physical-mechanical properties of rock
- Geotechnical and geo-mechanical characterization of rock masses
- Evaluation of the slope stability and study of failure mechanisms
- Research, geotechnical terms, the best solutions for the consolidation of the slope
- Detailed design of the consolidation works
