The project involves works along the entire front of the existing landfill site and is aimed at preserving the structural and functional characteristics of the landfill which was severely eroded.
Sering developed the whole project that includes:
- Offshore works, consisting of raised cliffs and spur dykes, designed in order to reduce the wave motion on the shoreline,
- Onshore works including earthworks (excavation and embankments) finalized to the remodeling of the whole area,
- Requalification works of the area overlooking the coastline, such as the system of pedestrian paths, “viewpoint” stepped areas, an open air theater, green reclamation and irrigation and lighting systems.
Stabilized earth has been used for the pedestrian walkways to the sea. The constructed long steps, in addition to interrupting the continuity of the slope by exerting a beneficial stabilizing effect, allow panning views, like an open air theater, on privileged points of sea view and marks the axis of the whole future park.
The design of the works required the analysis and study of many environmental and territorial issues, aimed at the characterization of the coastline detail.
