The scope of the project is the use of water from Garcia reservoir in the Belice Sinistro river through the construction of an irrigation plant (1,800 Ha) and rehabilitation works of the Belice Sinistro river banks
The water supply system includes a lifting system from Garcia reservoir, a pressure pipeline of 1000 mm diameter, a conveyance pipeline of 900-1100 mm diameter and 7.3 km length, secondary and distribution pipelines of diameter between 75 and 600 mm for a total length of 192 km, and two reservoirs (Vasca Borghi and Vasca Renelli).
The pipelines comprise a steel adductor; GRP, HDPE and cast iron secondary pipes; PVC distribution pipes.
The plant includes a sophisticated remote control system.
The project area has a varied morphology with gradients exceeding 200 m and is affected by landslides of various sizes on which it was necessary to intervene with the following consolidation works:
- Sope protection with gabions
- River bed protection with “Materassi type RENO
- Length of the intervention: 20 km
The rehabilitation works of the river banks have been designed based on an hydraulic model with risk areas location.
