The survey was intended to check the reinforced structures of berths 4&5 Port Sultan Qaboos: Asset Assessment, as well as the gantry cranes rails of berths 4 & 5, that highlighted several problems after more than 25 years of operations and damage suffered as a result of the cyclone passage Phet .
Topographic surveys were developed during specific load tests carried out along berths 4 & 5.
Precision topographic measures were carried out along several transversal sections of the berths in order to check the difference of levels of the gantry crane (GC) rails along the cross sections.
The installation of target and benchmark points and the execution of load tests required the area free of traffic and operation activities, for which Port Services Corporation (SAOG) cooperation has been essential and continuously extended during the testing period. Load test were carried at night.
