Khor Rorī is an Early South Arabian archaeological site near Salalahn in the Dhofar The small fortified town was founded as an outpost for the kingdom of  Ḥaḑramawt  around the 1st century BC, but the site shows signs of Ḥaḑramite settlement back to the 2nd century BC. The settlement was probably abandoned in the seventh century.

Since 1998 the site has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In early 2005 the external sight of the site was a raw mass of earth and stones, due to the collapses that characterized all the city wall and its defensive infrastructures. The North-Eastern outer side was also completely covered by excavation debris. Large sections of the walls showed marked signs of subsidence attributable to the poor quality of the inner clayey mixture and the lack of topside protection from the rain.

For this case, in particular, due to the use of binding materials the choice of materials and methods followed UNESCO– ICCROM principles and charts.

Technicians of Sering International collaborated on the develop of the detailed design of interventions.
