The project has regarded the upgrading of  about 7 km of the road platform to the latest construction standards of National Road SS124 between Siracusa and Floridia.

The project has included  the following:

• two crossings at grade with roundabouts and five junctions at grade and one split-level junction
• service roads
• one viaduct 260 m long crossing Anapo River
• other ancillary works

Services provided by Sering

• Environmental Impact Assessment
• Detailed and construction design of the remedial works
• technical assistance to the Contractor during construction

Within the scope of the Environmental  Impact  Assessment specific studies have been carried out by Sering in order to define the measures for the best environmental and landscaping of the works. Among these items the following have been planned:

• system for collecting and disposing of meteoric waters of platform and slope
• green works for containment of noise pollution and landscaping
• safeguarding watercourses
• shielding part of the infrastructures with rows of shrubs and trees
• philological interventions aimed at the preservation of local landscape and historical features
• recovery site areas
• conservation of about 160 olive trees in the areas that will be occupied by the enlargement of the new infrastructure
