Abstract
The Bioplatform project in Sesto San Giovanni aims to transform existing facilities into an advanced hub for the treatment of wastewater sludge and organic waste, promoting energy and material recovery in line with the principles of the circular economy.
From a structural perspective, the works rely on deep foundations with footings on bored piles, designed to transfer significant loads to the ground and ensure long-term stability. Thick reinforced concrete slabs effectively distribute stresses and serve as a solid base for the elevated structures.
The superstructures are primarily made of steelwork, with frames and trusses providing high structural efficiency, reducing overall weight, and facilitating assembly. Load-bearing elements such as beams and columns are optimized to withstand vertical and lateral loads, with particular attention to durability and ease of maintenance.
The seismic design, compliant with NTC 2018 standards, incorporates structural joints to limit stress between independent units. The use of recyclable materials and efficient construction technologies ensures a sustainable, functional, and environmentally integrated intervention.
