Abstract
The conceptual design project for the facade of the Mercure Muscat combines aesthetics and functionality, creating a unique and recognizable architectural identity. The facade features a blend of glass and opaque materials, with a structure characterized by soft curves and panels arranged both vertically and horizontally, achieving a sense of continuity and visual dynamism.
The design employs materials and structures incorporating a mix of glass and opaque panels, with glossy surfaces and perforated details at the base, delivering a layered and sophisticated appearance. Architectural elements include curved corners, perforated stone patterns at the base, vertical wooden fins, and an enclosed terrace on the attic level.
The lighting is designed to enhance the entire complex, with a system divided into three main areas: the garden, the ground floor, and the building. In the garden, vegetation is illuminated with recessed lights, while spotlights highlight taller plants, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. On the ground floor, the perforated wall allows internal light to filter outward, accentuating structural details. A luminous sail marks the entrance, making it immediately identifiable. The building’s lighting is carefully planned to reflect on the facade panels without intruding into the interiors, producing a luminous effect that highlights the architectural design’s articulation.
SERING International LLC developed this project in collaboration with Lombardini22 to deliver a design solution that harmoniously integrates architecture and sustainability, contributing to the urban landscape with a touch of elegance and modernity.
